Afo orthotic friendly. Wide width. Comfort orthopedic
My name is Cori Fischer. I am 20 years old and have a movement disorder that requires me to wear an AFO brace on each leg. Summer can be a tough season, especially with clothes. I know how hard it can be if you don’t want your braces, or scars, to show all of the time, but most summer clothes require you to do so. I have had six leg surgeries & as a result, have many scars on my legs which can sometimes be nice to cover up on occasion.
What to wear on Independence Day to feel independent when you wear leg braces & have an invisible disability.
I’ve had a love/hate relationship with shoes my entire life. Finding the best shoes to wear with AFOs has never been easy. Long before I started wearing leg braces (AFO’s), it was a struggle finding shoes that fit my high-arch, fused-ankle, drop-foot, callous-prone feet. I remember the day I picked up my first pair of…
Tis the season for freezing your ass off, maxing out your credit cards and for me, stressing about what to wear to holiday parties over leg braces.

When I launched Trend-Able almost 3 years ago, adaptive fashion and products for people with disabilities were just starting to become a thing. Since most of the “adaptive products” on the market still seem to be geared for people recovering from surgeries and/or the home bound elderly (as opposed to stylish active people like us),…
Shoe shopping has always been difficult for me. I was born with classical Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and, along with faulty connective tissue and loose joints, I was born with flat feet. I have weak ankles, huge bunions on both big toes, crooked and curled smaller toes, stretched Achilles tendons, and a variety of other issues that make finding a comfortable, supportive, stylish pair of shoes about as easy as finding a double-rainbow.
There’s a video of me at my third birthday party. I’ve watched it so many times, it’s almost my own memory. I’m Shirley Temple’s 1990s doppelgänger in a frilly dress, my blonde ringlets barely held back by a strand of yarn. In the small swath of thick carpet not covered in wrapping paper and new toys, I’m shuffling along in my very first pair of high heels.
I received two pairs of Revere Shoes at no charge & will get a small commission should you decide to use the links provided in this post. I created Trend-ABLE to help empower orthosis wearers & others with invisible disabilities to look & feel their best. All opinions are always my own.
Nothing screams the start of summer more than a backyard barbecue! With Memorial weekend fast approaching, patio furniture everywhere, is being cleaned and uncovered and the smell of charcoal is beginning to fill the air. Whether it’s a graduation party or casual gathering with friends, an evite to some type of outdoor barbecue is imminent; You may even want to check your inbox right now.
Until recently, fashion and disability was pretty much an oxymoron. The clothing available for people with physical challenges called “health wear” was found in home medical supplies stores next to other functional items like incontinence supplies and shower seats.
You are going to LOVE DIY frayed denim jeans! It’s one of my favorite ways to repurpose jeans and has added a lot to my wardrobe without a big expense. One of the easiest ways to update an old pair of jeans is to cut off the bottom seam. Some skinny jeans taper close to…
